I consider my climate information design practice an extension of my artwork and have been working on an AI-powered FAQ-bot for climate change, now available here at www.carbonprogress.org. A reader might ask, why introduce yet another climate information source, and why an AI-powered one? Put simply, my objective has been to place synoptic and reliable state-specific climate change information before the climate-curious and persuadable sector of the public with just a click or two, eliminating considerable searching and browsing.

I became intrigued with this opportunity early last year, as Open AI and others made LLMs available to the public. After experimenting with and training an open source model, Meta's LLAMA 2, I have concluded that Open AI's most recent GPT 4 model is quite current in its knowledge base and is capable of providing relevant and reliable climate change information at the state level. I intend to refine this app and extend its relevance to address the climate challenge.
